LA PULGA

Sire Kodiac

Dam Nijah

La Pulga is a four-year-old gelding who was previously trained by Harry and Roger Charlton. La Pulga’s damsire is Pivotal, who was Champion Broodmare Sire from 2017 to 2019 with his daughters producing 28 individual Group 1 winners to date. La Pulga was the subject of very favourable reports from our inspection team as the type to improve from age three to four. He is suited by 1m 4f to 1m 6f and is in training with Charlie Johnston. Charlie and his father Mark have a magnificent record with distance horses. La Pulga is Spanish for ‘the flea’ and is the nickname of legendary footballer, Lionel Messi. When you purchase a share in La Pulga, you will gain instant access to a wealth of past content and updates for the horse since RaceShare launched in November 2022.

The plan
La Pulga made a promising debut in RaceShare silks at Thirsk in April and produced an improved performance to finish a close fourth at Hamilton on Friday, May 19. He then produced an impressive display to win his first race in RaceShare silks, when bolting up at Hamilton on Thursday, June 8. He showed a good turn of foot and we hope that this will be a springboard to the rest of the season with him. La Pulga got a really unfortunate passage that cost him any chance he might have had, when hampered twice in the home straight on his last start at the Ebor Festival at York on August 23. This was over a new trip of an extended two miles and the evidence of that run unlocks more options over longer trips, so we are excited for the rest of the season with him.
